producers and processors from throughout Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are invited to attend a
Market Expansion Conference to be held in San Juan,
Puerto Rico on December 3 and 4, 2013. At this conference, you
learn from local authorities how to expand your business and sell your
products to many markets, including the local school districts in Puerto Rico
and the Virgin Islands and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
This conference is being
co-hosted by the Puerto Rico Departments of Agriculture and Education, the
U.S. Department of Agriculture, and supported by
the agricultural and business community, including
the Puerto Rico Farm Bureau,
the Economic Development Bank for Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rico Department of
Economic Development and Commerce, and MIDA.
conference follows up a very successful one held in June 2011 where seven USDA
agencies and state and local agencies provided technical assistance and
information to over 250 local farmers and food producers from Puerto Rico.
Since the 2011
conference, there has been increased business between Puerto Rico
farmers and food producers with the local school districts as well as an
increase in jobs in the farm sector, which is very important to the island’s
